Creating the Corral

Last Updated: March 31, 2002

Of course, before we get the alpacas, we have to create a good place for them to live.... On our cooperative, there is a horse corral and we are able to use part of it for the alpacas... here's some of the pictures of our progress (clicking on the picture will open a larger version):

Posts in the corner of the area, with a corner of the shelter to the left.

Rancher Tom putting in the post holes... hard work!

The fence posts for the no climb fence are hammered into the ground.

More post holes dug and the gate frame installed. No climb fence is hooked up.

Tom taking a break, and posing for me! (I did help, btw)!

Building the shelter for the critters from an existing old shelter.

Side view, the open area in back will be an area for feed and the cart and other tools

Front on view, of course there is more to come.

The gate we finally decided on.

More pictures to come, just a bit more work to do!
